Heaven's Eye

80 x 120 oil and acrylic on linen, 2004.

A painting by definition is an arrangement of colours on a flat surface. But we automatically choose a white surface, and thus efface the nature of the support. This canvas has been hand stretched and treated with a transparent base. The base lifts the fibres and depending on the technique, make the support an intrinsic part of the painting.
